Animation Software from Autodesk

Guna Foundation has been granted powerful animation programs as part of the Autodesk Technology Impact Program. We are thrilled to have access to this industry standard animation software, which will be of great benefit for our next film project.

We receive 4 licenses for Entertainment Creation Suite Ultimate 2014 which includes Maya, 3Ds Max, Softimage, Mudbox, Motion Builder and Sketchbook Designer, a donation valued at thousands of dollars.

A big thank you to Autodesk for donating software licenses each year to nonprofits.

Berkeley Premiere of
Prayers of the Ancient Ones

On September 29, the first public screening of Prayers of the Ancient Ones was held at the David Brower Center, a wonderful space in the heart of downtown Berkeley, with an audience of 125. Responses to the film were very positive, and audience members came away inspired.

The post-screening panel, graciously hosted by Producer Barry Schieber, was notable for a series of particularly thoughtful questions from the audience.  Panel members – Director Pema Gellek, Assistant Director Hugh Joswick, guests Jack Petranker and Lama Palzang – had an excellent opportunity to respond in kind.

LACMA Screening for Light of the Valley

On September 17th, the Southern Asian Art Council of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art screened Light of the Valley in the Bing Theater.  On the big theatrical screen, the film shimmered with beauty. There was a lively question and answer session with moderator Lisa Leeman (professor at USC), Deepak Shimkhada (noted scholar), Padma Maitland (assistant art director of the Swayambu renovation) and Barry Schieber (producer of the documentary). There were filmmakers in the audience who showed a great deal of interest in learning more about our ongoing projects.  The film was appreciated, and the evening provided a wonderful opportunity to extend our work and its message.

We have been referred to teachers at UCLA, Claremont and USC and hope to be able to screen our films at these schools.

If you know of any venues who would be interested in screening our documentaries, please send an email to: contact@gunafoundation.org.
