TNMC Documentary
Currently, our main project is the production of a feature length documentary that chronicles the history of one of the largest Tibetan preservation organizations in the world, the Tibetan Nyingma Meditation Centers (TNMC).
Since being founded in Berkeley during the early 70’s by Tibetan lama Tarthang Tulku Rinpoche, TNMC has grown immensely.
From building Odiyan, a massive complex of temples and sacred monuments, in northern California to hosting the Annual World Peace Ceremony in Bodh Gaya, India; from printing millions of sacred Buddhist texts to restoring important temples in Asia, the accomplishments of TNMC are simply astonishing.
The situation in Tibet has resulted in an urgent need to both preserve and transmit the wealth of Tibetan Buddhism, a tradition that has explored the inner secrets of the mind for centuries. This documentary will reveal the unfolding of Tibetan Buddhism in the west through unprecedented access to footage of an organization that has worked behind the scenes, working to help lay a foundation for the flourishing of Buddhism in the west on a remarkable scale. It is the story of the powerful vision of a Tibetan lama, the dedication and hard work of a small, determined group of individuals, and the preservation of Tibet's endangered civilization.
